But What to do About Snow Days?
We’ve all heard speculation about ‘snow day forgiveness,’ and whether or not K—12 school districts will need to make up all the days they’ve cancelled for inclement weather, including sub-zero temperatures. You may have also heard about a bill introduced in the state Legislature to give the districts (and students!) a little relief in this area. It’s a bit of an unusual topic for consideration by our Legislature, but then, state government shutting down due to weather is unusual, too. The Detroit News (February 17th) ran a thorough article on the bill, the reasons behind it, the history, and the implications if it passes.
By the way, it’s only February 19th; Mother Nature surely isn’t done with us yet. In the meantime, watch for communications from your local school district for information on their own decisions about their school calendar.
